Q: What are the dates of the next Alumafiesta?

A: January 27 through February 1, 2015, at Tucson/Lazydays KOA Campground in Tucson, Arizona.


Q: What can I expect at Alumafiesta?

A:  Quite a lot!  For five nights, we will be parked at a premium RV resort with great amenities. Every attendee gets full hookups plus cable TV on a 40-foot site (most of them have a citrus tree!)  There are two swimming pools, great facilities, an on-site restaurant, and all of our events will be held in a 10,000 square foot indoor event center.

The dates are in the midst of the peak season, just before the start of the world-famous Tucson gem show season, and two weeks before the famous Tucson Rodeo Days.  Over 40 separate events happen in the first two weeks of February, covering gems, minerals, fossils, Native American crafts, and much more—virtually taking over the city.  It’s very difficult to get accommodations in Tucson this time of year, but we’ll have a reserved block of premium campsites right in the center of the action.

Alumafiesta is designed to show you the best of Tucson.  Every day we’ll lead a couple of excursions, and you can choose which excursions to join each day. We’ll take scenic drives, walk the historical and cultural sites of downtown, roam the gardens, and there will be numerous self-guided opportunities as well.  We’re working on organizing special lunches at some of the more eclectic restaurants in town, too.  (Note: the program is currently under development, so some activities may change by event date.)

In the evenings we’ll have our traditional Happy Hour with door prizes and fun, followed by local speakers in the evenings.  An indoor display of new Airstreams will be available for you to browse at any time.

The event will also include two full breakfasts, one dinner, plus the opportunity to taste delicious fare from some of Tucson’s Food Trucks.

In addition to all this, we’ll host special events like Happy Hour with daily door prize drawings!  Everything is designed to give you a fun and exciting vacation, as well as opportunities to meet people like you who love to travel.  You’ll have a great time, and we guarantee you won’t have to shovel snow even once!


Q: What’s the weather like at that time of year?

The normal average daytime high in Tucson during February is 68 degrees, with overnight lows around 44 degrees.  Freezing temperatures are rare, as is rain (typically 3-4 days of the month, amounting to less than an inch.) Tucson enjoys abundant sunshine year-round.  The air is usually dry, clear, and perfect for outdoor activity.


Q: What does it cost?

A: Each adult attending is $130 for the entire event.  Kids under age 15 are just $55 with a paid adult.  Campsites are $225 for the five-night stay.

For example, two adults in one trailer is $485  ($130 +$130 +$225).  One adult in a trailer is $355 ($130 +$225)

If you choose to stay off-site and just want to attend the events as a “walk-in,” your cost is $130 per adult for the entire week. This walk-in ticket will give you all the same access and privileges and camping attendees, minus the campsite.

Sorry, single “day passes” are not available.


Q: What do I get with my registration fee?

A: Five nights of full hookup premium RV camping, access to all seminars and events, a “goody bag” with discounts and information, entertainment, two breakfasts, one dinner, daily door prize drawings, tours, and other surprises.  (Note that some off-site tours and meals have additional fees.)


Q: Can I register by phone or mail?

Q: Can my friends come visit for free?

A: Yes! Anyone can drop in and visit you, walk around to see the Airstreams, and shop at the vendors or at the new Airstream display. No credentials or payment needed.

However, everyone who wants to attend seminars, eat the meals, watch the entertainment, or participate in any organized activities must be registered and paid as a “walk in” attendee ($130 for the entire week).


Q: Can I come without camping at Tucson/Lazydays KOA (walk-in)?

A:  Yes, absolutely. Use our regular registration form and register as a walk-in.  You will have all the access and privileges of a camping attendee.


Q: Can I book additional nights?

A: Yes, you can register for additional nights up to a week prior or week after the event when you register online. If you are looking for more additional nights, please call us at 802-877-2900 extension 4.
Q: Can I be parked with my friends?

A: Yes.  Put your request with your friends’ names in the “Special Requests” box when you register.


Q: I don’t have an Airstream. Can I still come?

A: Yes! If you aspire to own an Airstream, come on over and check out the people and the product! You’ll learn everything you want to know about them. Any brand of RV is welcome to attend.  Sorry, no tents.


Q: Will there be showers and bathrooms?

Yes, the Tucson/Lazydays KOA has multiple bath/shower/laundry facilities.


Q:  Where can I get wi-fi (Internet) nearby?

Tucson/Lazydays KOA offers free wi-fi for all guests.


Q: Will there be a vintage section?

A:  No, but you can request parking near your friends if you like.


Q: I’m a vegetarian. Is there a vegetarian alternative available at dinner?

A: Yes, we always ensure there is a vegetarian meal option.


Q: Can I bring my pet, or serve drinks?

A: Dogs are welcome in the camping area but must be on leash anytime they are out of the trailer.  There is open space to run your dog nearby.  Dogs are not allowed inside the Event Center, except service animals.

No problem hosting your own Happy Hour at your site, as long as it doesn’t spill into the roadway.


Q: Can I buy a cool Alumafiesta t-shirt?

A: Yes, but you should pre-order them when you register.  T-shirt purchases will be delivered at the event.  During the event, there may be some leftover shirts available in our online store but quantities will be very limited and we don’t guarantee availability.  It’s best to pre-order your shirts when you register.


Q: What’s the cancellation/refund policy?

A: Cancellation Policy:
If you must cancel before the event begins, we can transfer your fees to any one of our other events that is being held within 11 months of this event.  You must notify us by January 26, 2015 and tell us which event you wish to transfer to. Please note that there is a $25 transfer fee, and the cost of another event may be higher so there might be a balance due.

Should the cost of the other event be lower, resulting in excess funds, the excess funds shall remain available to use for future events for one year. The excess funds expire one year from the last event attended. To use excess funds you must call us (802-877-2900 x4).

IMPORTANT:  Transferred funds are not refundable for any reason if you cancel the second event, and you can only transfer funds once.

If you wish to cancel and receive a refund instead, here’s our policy:

Registrations to Alumafiesta which are canceled on or before December 28, 2014 will be charged a $25 cancellation fee per group (not per person).

Cancellations received December 29, 2014 – January 19, 2015 will be charged $75 per group.

Cancellations received January 20 – 26, 2015 will be charged $150 per group.

No refunds or transfers can be processed after the event begins (January 27, 2015).

Refunds will be made to the credit card or PayPal account that was originally used to make the payment, when possible. Otherwise refunds will be made by paper check mailed to the address on file.  Please note that t-shirts and other merchandise orders are not returnable or refundable.
